IPMS Avon Show Report

Today saw Stonehenge Modellers attend our second show of the year and a short trip down the M4 to Bristol and the excellent Avon show. After an RV at my house we had a swift and easy drive down to the venue and were set up and ready in record time. The show is spread over three halls and there is plenty of room for everyone, both visitors and exhibitors. This year they also had a new cafe located in hall 1 which was very handy on such a hot day.

The usual mix of war-gamers and scale modellers ensured there was plenty for everyone to look at and spend some money on. The show was very busy from the off and it was great to see old friends and followers of this Blog too. It didn't really slacken off until about lunchtime but got busy again after 1pm. It was however very hot in the halls and this steadily increased as the day went on. The organisers did take the very sensible decision to leave the hall exterior doors open so at least there was some breeze coming through.

Better than it raining all day I guess but who would have thought we'd have such a hot summer? Anyway there were loads of interesting models on display and some crackers in the competition area, (which had air con and proved VERY popular!). I spent quite some time there under one of the vents! We've missed the last two years so it was really nice to attend and as ever had a fantastic time. A big thanks to IPMS Avon for their hard work and for putting on one of our favourite shows.

And my new loft insulation for the day,

We had a very quick return to Devizes so thought it rude not to have a pint of the good stuff next to the Kennett & Avon canal. Just what the doctor ordered after a hot but enjoyable day, living the dream!
