38(t) More Work

I've now added some highlights to all the raised rivets & bolts using a light grey. It's hardly noticeable in the pictures but I've kept it subtle. Followed by some detail painting it's now ready for a gloss coat.

38T In Panzer Grey

After a slight delay due to airbrush issues I've now sprayed the model using tamiya colours. Good old XF 63 German grey was used with a drop of black added for the first coat. This was followed by German grey with a couple of drops of XF 82 added and sprayed quite thinly in the centre of panels etc. Finally some white was added to that mix and again sprayed into the centre of panels which gives just enough contrast. I'll add more fading later with oils during the weathering process.

38(t) Built & Primed!

Well the model took no time at all to build, such is the superb engineering of the kit and it's all straight from the box. I really enjoyed it even though it was such a short build process! Anyway primer went on yesterday so I should start tackling the paintwork this weekend.

Tamiya 38(t) Progress

Well I started building last night and did a couple of hours. Already I've got one track run done and I'm now starting on the second one. As you would expect the fit of parts is phenomenal and the detail is excellent. You almost don't need glue the fit is that good. I have a feeling this won't take long to build!

Next On The Bench

My mojo restoration continues with another nice and easy kit in the form of tamiya's rather smashing 38(t). Again the focus will be on the painting so it's another OTB build.

I should be starting this soon so watch out for more updates.

Tamiya R35 Finished

I've now finished the model by adding a very light application of pigments followed by some graphite powder for the tracks and then finally some fuel staining. The base is just a recycled one from an old build but it works well in highlighting the size of the model as well as being a good contrast for the funky camo scheme.

I've really enjoyed building & painting this kit, it was a perfect choice to restart the modelling mojo as it was so easy to build. I'm now looking at other early war tamiya kits to build next!

R35 Almost Done...

The model has now had a coat of matt varnish & the tracks fitted. Next will be a few final touches before some light weathering with pigments and a small display base for it.

R35 Figure & Some Goodies

The figure has now had about a weeks drying time so the oils are now fully dry. I'm now starting work on the flesh areas after painting up the trousers. It should look good under a matt coat.

I've also had a much needed top up of my Vallejo paints and also bought some decent brushes. I went for the new Fugazi series from Broken toad as they where a reasonable price and look to be nice brushes. I also bought a little treat in the shape of a Gecko models cruiser tank A9 Mk1 CS. It's not little that's for sure with the box packed with parts!
