Rutscher Detail Painting, Gloss & Decals

The detail painting has now been done, not much really, just a few bits of chipping and the exhaust sorted. Gloss on then decals, I also added another stripe of red oxide to the front of the hull. Now the serious business of weathering can begin!

Rutscher Urban Camo

I've been playing with paint and have come up with a sort of dazzle urban scheme. Thanks to Chris for the suggestion of having the horizontal surfaces in red oxide and stripes on the hull sides. I'm very pleased with the pattern with perhaps another red stripe to add to the hull front.

I used tamiya XF 9 hull red, XF 63 German grey & XF 60 dark yellow lightened with flat white. The stripes work better than blocks I think and do break up the shape of the model. The lower sections under the track guards where left in hull red as I didn't see much point in adding a pattern here especially with mud & dust going on later.

FV 432 & Rutscher Progress

I've done a bit more work on the 432 and have used wilder textured earth to add some mud build up on the lower hull & tracks. This stuff is acrylic based and it's easy to correct if you make a mistake. It's also very easy to work into the tracks then wipe off with a damp cloth.

The paper panzer has now been sprayed in primer so I need to get some paint today to start the camo scheme.

FV 432 & Paper Panzer Figures

As the temperature in the cave is scorchio currently I've only braved the cave in the evenings when it becomes more tolerable in there. So I've been working on the figures for both projects.
The 432 will be accompanied by one from firing line, this is a white metal figure in a relaxed pose. After a bit of clean up I replaced the head with a suitable hornet one and added the missing map pocket to his lightweights & epaulettes to the jumper.

The figures for the Rutscher are also done with a reduction to just two figures to go with it now. This I felt worked better and did not hide the model so much.

Toon LA-7 Done

The toon production line has now closed with the completion of this one for a while. I could get carried away with these things so some restraint is in order! Again just a fun build, nothing serious and very relaxing.

Paper Panzer "Rutscher"

Construction is now finished, nothing much done apart from a different light at the front, a bit of conduit to it and weld beads to the front portion of the track guard. I also added a bit of damage to the other side. I've also found some old dragon figures which should work well for the display idea I have. A quick mock up confirms that they will work without much modification.

Now thoughts turn to possible camouflage schemes for the model and here I'm keen on an urban type pattern possibly along the lines of the British army Berlin brigade but using red primer, desert yellow & panzer grey and perhaps a green.

Das Werk Panzerklein Zerstörer "Rutscher"

With time on my hands waiting for paint/varnish to dry on my two builds I had a look at this kit and before I knew it I'd started building! It's actually a very simple and small kit but I have a cracking idea for a small diorama so I guess that swayed me into starting the build. Breaking strain of a damp kit kat me!

So I've built the hull & the tracks and also added some weld beads using stretched sprue. The tracks where fiddly but there are not many to worry about, although every link needed the rubber track pad face sanding down due to an ejector mark on each one.

FV432 & Toon LA-7

The 432 has now had all the small details painted and a very small amount of wear added mostly to the tow rope hangers. I'm not adding anymore chipping or wear to the model for a change. Instead I'll concentrate on adding some nice dust & mud effects later.

The toon plane is also going well with the decals now on. They are quite thick but Daco strong solution ensured they snuggled down nicely.

432 Detail Painting

A little bit more done on the model with the exhaust painted up, the rear reflectors and a start on the filler caps too. I'm currently thinking about how much wear & chipping to add to the model as well.

More Toon Madness!

I've just realised that I have forgotten to post my other toon build I'm currently working on. I've been having so much fun with it that posting about the build slipped my mind! So here's Tiger models Soviet LA-7 fighter.

These toon planes have even fewer parts than the tanks so you can get to the fun part of painting even quicker!
