I have managed to get some paint on the model. I used tamiya XF67 NATO green then went back over the model with a mixture of NATO green and buff in the centre of panels etc. A blast of klear and I have now started to pick out the details using vallejo colours.

I may still add a little more contrast to the model with the lightened mix of buff and NATO green and add a small amount of chipping.
