Kanonenjagdpanzer Progress

The Build has gone extremely well and fast, so fast that in fact it's almost finished! After sorting the tracks the rest of the model went together very easily with only a few areas that needed any filler or fettling. Even the etched jerry can holders behaved themselves and went together with no issues.

The detail on the kit is very good and should look great under a coat of paint. All that's needed now is to finish off a few areas such as bolts on the track connector ends and assembling and sorting the crew figures which are from Valkyrie.

Kanonenjagdpanzer Building Begins

Well, so far so good with the start of the build concentrating on the lower hull and running gear. Wheels and sprockets are well detailed as is the suspension. The tracks are link and length with individual links used around the sprockets and front idlers. Two types are provided so check the instructions. The tracks do suffer from far too many attachment points on the sprue which means you lose most of the nice bolt detail once cleaned up.

I will replace the missing bolts with some punched plastic discs later. I did find an extra link was needed for a nice fit. I've also made sure the tracks can be painted separately as well.

Das Werk Kanonenjagdpanzer

Next on the bench is the rather nice das werk kit of the German Kanonenjagdpanzer. This is a vehicle I've wanted to build for a long time. So without further ado let's get cracking!

"What If" British S Tank Complete

Here finally is my "what if" project of the Swedish S Tank in British service in BAOR circa late 1970"s. Final weathering was all done with wilder aqualine acrylic effects and finished off with a very light overspray of heavily thinned tamiya buff.

On a small base with the figure in place I'm very pleased with the final result even though it's taken far too long to complete.

S Tank Figure

Here is the figure all painted up. Nice and simple to paint and quick too. He should look right at home on the model when it's all finished.

S Tank Matt Coat & Figure

That's the model with a good matt coat which has gone down very nicely. Final weathering is now imminent. The figure for the model is from firing line, the relaxed pose should look just right when mounted on the model.

S Tank Weathering & Washes

I've now added a few filters and pin washes as well as a bit more detail painting to the model. This has all been finished off with a quick dust wash before the model gets a matt coat. Very pleased so far with the effects and will build on this once it's had the flat coat.

S Tank Markings

I've now got some decals on the model and have also made up a couple of reg number plates using the actual trial vehicle plates as a starting point.  The model has also had a gloss coat in preparation for weathering.
